We are very pleased to announce the publication of Leo & I and the Ghost of Cézanne, A Memory of Art and Provence. The book speaks of Provence, the light, the mistral wind, and the extraordinary countryside that served as the enveloping world which nourished the art of Leo Marchutz, his unique insight into the art of Cézanne, and his profound understanding of the nature of art.
The book is a personal account of the author's life and experience with this exceptional man, artist, teacher, and mentor. The time frame begins in September 1961, when as a young student he first arrived in Aix-en-Provence and met Leo Marchutz, to January 1976, the year Leo died. Rooted in the particular nature of art, the book aspires to touch upon the universal aspects of art and education in the evolving relationship between master and apprentice.

Le livre parle de la Provence, de sa lumière, de son mistral et de l'extraordinaire campagne environnante, un monde extérieur qui a nourri l'art de Léo Marchutz, sa conception unique de l'art de Cézanne et sa profonde compréhension de la nature de l'art.
Le livre est un compte rendu personnel de la vie et de l'expérience de l'auteur auprès de cet homme exceptionnel, artiste, enseignant et mentor. La chronologie qui commence en septembre 1961, lorsque, jeune étudiant, il arrivait pour la première fois à Aix-en-Provence pour rencontrer Léo Marchutz, s'étend jusqu'en janvier 1976, date du décès de Léo.
